Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Rifugio Vittorio Emanuele
You meet with your guide in the morning for equipment check and a quick briefing in Chamonix (or in Aosta if you're joining from our Gran Paradiso Trek). You then transfer to the small village Pont in the Gran Paradiso national park, where you start your hike up to the Vittorio Emanuele hut.
Day 2: Gran Paradiso summit
From the Vittorio Emanuele hut, you set off early for the summit. The route is mostly snow/glacier walking and is not technical apart from a short rock scramble at the end (which is optional). On the summit you're treated to amazing views across the Alps, including the Matterhorn, the Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc. You return by the same route, via the Vittorio Emanuele hut, to the village of Pont in the valley below and transfer back to Chamonix.
Note: The two day itinerary above is only suitable if you arrive acclimatised, for instance if you have just completed our Gran Paradiso Trek.If you are not already acclimatised, we highly recommend that you add a few days trekking or mountaineering with one of our guides prior to the Gran Paradiso Climb.

What our customers say:
"Just got back from my 4th trip with Alpine Treks and yet again it was well organised and we had a fab time. This was my first summer trip and me and my partner had a go at proper mountaineering which culminated with us climbing gran paradiso. The trip was well organised, our guide (Neil McNab) was well qualified, very experienced as well as encouraging and good company. We enjoyed our training and acclimatisation which took us to fabulous locations across 3 countries. The hotel base in Chamonix (Gustavia) was clean, quiet and comfortable with an excellent breakfast. I can also highly recommend the winter trips particularly snowshoeing which remains one of my favourite winter activities."
Heather Pinches
"We have just completed a successful summit of Gran Paradiso, guided by Neil. Despite the weather and the fact than only 6 climbers summited today, Neil was a real star....such a true professional and we cannot thank you enough for arranging everything to have made this trip such a success. Neil was supportive, engaging and instructive...nothing was too much bother to him. I will certainly be recommending Alpine Treks to my climbing friends back in Scotland."
